For lunch several days ago I had a very satisfying hodgepodge. Naturtium; guacamole; sweet baby carrots; corn chips; butter lettuce; potato bread; Juniper Grove tomme cheese; and Riesling.

At Alex’s, Alex cooked a chicken stuffed with Tecate.

Lunch break

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

For lunch I went to the Korean Twist cart, which does Korean/Mexican fusion. I had a salad with blueberry, pineapple, and ginger dressing; 3 tacos with peanut sauce, BBQ beef, cilantro, etc; rice with peas and fava beans. Afterwards I stopped by Joels new shop, which looks great. Leala made me one of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever tasted, which I had with one of her mini blackberry butter cakes. Joel was looking very exhausted. On the wall are inkjet prints of bicycles by Gus Van Sant and photos of Andy Warhol watching some breakdancers in his factory. The shop has a very relaxing and clean feel. I should hang out there this weekend with my laptop and write some emails!

A few random things…

Kate showed me this illustration site today for people to draw a page in a cookbook. Also, have I mentioned that Joel should be opening his new shop very soon?

Muscat bottled

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

I bottled some Muscat from last year.

The grapes came from Elle’s father. He has 6 or 7 old vines about 200 feet from the Willamette river.

I dropped off a case of Muscat and Pinot Noir on Saturday. The yearly family renunion was in full swing. Here they are doing some skeet shooting in the cow pasture.

Also, the counter was glued in on Friday.
